Morning prayers+ In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, For the living God. (Psalm 42) As we rejoice in the gift of this new day, so may the light of your presence, O God, set our hearts on fire with love for you; now and for ever. Amen (Common Worship) Read and reflect:You might like, at this point to read a section of one of the Gospels and spend some time thinking about what God is saying to you through this passage. Intercessions:A time of prayer where you can pray for all those who are affected by the current situation. Pray for the world; for the Church; for our country and Government; for our doctors, nurses and emergency services; for your family, loved ones and friends; for those who are lonely or anxious; for the sick and dying; for the departed; and do not forget to pray for yourself and your own needs and concerns. Finish your intercessions by saying the Lord’s prayer. The Lord’s PrayerOur Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen. Eternal God and Father, The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, | Midday prayersIt is the tradition of the Church to pray the ‘Angelus’ at midday. This is a chance for us to pause, reflect on Our Lady saying ‘yes’ to God and the wonder of the incarnation and the birth of Jesus. During Eastertide, this changes to the ‘Regina Caeli’ as we rejoice with Mary at the Resurrection. The AngelusThe Angel of the Lord brought tidings to Mary, Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Behold the handmaid of the Lord. Hail Mary, etc… And the Word was made flesh, Hail Mary, etc… Pray for us, O holy Mother of God. Regina Caeli (during Eastertide)Joy to thee, O Queen of Heaven, alleluia. As he promised, hath arisen, alleluia. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia. O God, by the Resurrection of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, you have brought joy to the whole world: grant that, by the help of his mother, the Virgin Mary, we may obtain the joys of everlasting life; through Christ the Lord. Amen |
Evening prayers+ In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Let my prayer be counted as incense before you, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. (Psalm 141) As our evening prayer rises before you, O God, so may your mercy come down upon us to cleanse our hearts and set us free to sing your praise. Amen (Common Worship) Read and reflect:You might like, at this point to read a section of one of the Gospels and spend some time thinking about what God is saying to you through this passage. Finish your intercessions by saying the Lord’s prayer. Most merciful God, who by the death and resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ delivered and saved the world: grant that by faith in him who suffered on the cross we may triumph in the power of his victory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (Common Worship) The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all, evermore. Amen. Let us bless the Lord. Thanks be to God. | Night prayersThe tradition of the Church has been to reflect on the day that has passed before we go to sleep. A chance to think about the good things that have happened to us and to give thanks to God for those; but also a time to think over the times when we have failed God and fallen short and to ask God for his forgiveness and strength to start again tomorrow. + In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Look back over the past day: Who have I wronged or hurt in any way? What have I thought that is wrong? What have I said that is wrong? What have I done wrong? What have I failed to do? What do I want to give thanks to God for? Holy God Keep watch, dear Lord, with those who work, or watch, or weep this night, and give your angels charge over those who sleep. Tend the sick, Lord Christ; give rest to the weary, bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield the joyous; and all for your love's sake. Amen. Visit this place, O Lord, we pray, and drive far from it the snares of the enemy; The Lord bless us and watch over us; the Lord make his face shine upon us and be gracious to us; the Lord look kindly on us and give us peace. Amen. |
